About Me
Thank you for visiting! I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at the University of Iowa. I earned my M.A. in Political Science from the University of Iowa in 2023, and my B.A. in Political Science and Religious Studies from the University of Iowa in 2014. My primary fields of study are American Politics, Public Policy, and Comparative Politics.
My research examines the relationship between public opinion, policymaking, and representation. Specifically, my dissertation focuses on morality policy and representation within the United States, examining the adoption and diffusion of such policies across the federal and state level. More broadly, I am interested in how political institutions, actors, and policy environments shape the experiences and political incorporation of salient social groups.
My current projects examine the relationship between state bill introductions and public attitudes toward transgender Americans, differences in policy preferences among LGBTQ+ sub-groups, and changes in primary and general election participation across partisan and gender groups. Methodologically, my work primarily employs quantitative methods, including survey analysis, state policy data collection, voter file analysis, and statistical modeling.
When I am not teaching or conducting research, I enjoy spending time with my family and cats, reading, and watching television and movies.
